Copyright, Music Usage & Non-Commercial Film Statement

TO EVERYTHING AFTER (2026)
An Independent Motion Picture by RIPENT, LLC

1. Our Purpose & Creative Intent

To Everything After is an independently produced, passion-driven motion picture created as a heartfelt tribute to the culture, music, friendships, and experiences that defined a generation.

Set primarily during the summer of 1998, the film seeks to authentically recreate an era in which music played an inseparable role in everyday life. From songs heard over the radio and playing in neighborhood establishments to the unforgettable recordings that became the soundtrack of our youth, music is an essential part of the world and memories portrayed in this story.

This production was developed independently, with limited financial resources, and through the extraordinary contributions of individuals who believed in its artistic and nostalgic vision.

Our intention is not to commercially exploit the intellectual property of others, but to celebrate the creative works and cultural influences that helped shape an unforgettable period in American popular culture.

2. Non-Commercial Exhibition & Fan Appreciation

To Everything After is an independently financed passion project being presented to the public free of charge, without advertising monetization or direct exhibition revenue collected by the filmmakers or RIPENT, LLC.

The film was created primarily for artistic expression, personal storytelling, historical nostalgia, and appreciation of the music and culture of the 1990s.

This release is intended to share a deeply personal creative work with audiences who appreciate the era, its music, and the memories associated with it—not to generate direct revenue from the exhibition of copyrighted musical works.

We recognize and respect that third-party copyright holders may independently elect to monetize their copyrighted material through YouTube’s Content ID system or other available rights-management tools. Any advertising revenue generated through such claims is administered according to the respective rights holders’ and YouTube’s policies and does not represent monetization by RIPENT, LLC.

The filmmakers do not intend to independently distribute or commercially exploit third-party musical compositions or sound recordings apart from their incorporation into this fan film on YouTube.

The inclusion of recognizable music is motivated by artistic authenticity, historical context, nostalgia, and sincere appreciation for the musicians and songwriters whose creative works helped define a generation.

We acknowledge that providing the film free of charge and declining monetization does not, by itself, constitute copyright authorization or establish fair use.

3. Music Copyright & Ownership

Certain musical compositions and sound recordings featured in To Everything After are protected by copyright and remain the intellectual property of their respective owners.

RIPENT, LLC does not claim ownership of third-party musical compositions, original sound recordings, or any other pre-existing copyrighted works incorporated into the film.

The production includes a combination of original music, independently recorded cover performances, and pre-existing recordings. Rights and permissions associated with these materials vary by work.

The inclusion of any third-party work does not imply ownership, sponsorship, affiliation, authorization, or endorsement by its respective copyright holder.

All rights not expressly held by RIPENT, LLC remain reserved to their respective owners.

4. Artistic Context & Copyright Considerations

The filmmakers recognize and respect the protections afforded to copyright owners under United States copyright law.

Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act recognizes that certain uses of copyrighted material may qualify as fair use, depending upon the purpose and character of the use, the nature of the copyrighted work, the amount and substantiality used, and the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.

We recognize that non-commercial intent, artistic expression, historical context, and the creation of an independently produced film do not, individually or collectively, establish an automatic exemption from copyright requirements.

Our purpose in incorporating period-specific music is to support the film’s narrative, establish historical and cultural context, and evoke the authentic atmosphere of the era depicted.

The use of music within the film is intended to contribute to its storytelling and period authenticity rather than to replace the original recordings or serve as a substitute for commercially available music.

This statement is intended to explain the filmmakers’ creative intentions and circumstances surrounding the production. It is not intended to assert that every use of third-party material necessarily qualifies as fair use or that permissions are unnecessary.

5. YouTube Content ID & Rights Holder Recognition

We recognize that YouTube provides copyright owners with tools, including Content ID, to identify and manage the use of their copyrighted works.

RIPENT, LLC respects the rights of copyright holders to identify, claim, monetize, restrict, or otherwise manage their works in accordance with applicable law and YouTube’s policies.

Where third-party copyrighted recordings are identified, the filmmakers are generally receptive to copyright owners exercising available monetization options, including the placement of advertisements for the benefit of eligible rights holders.

Our preference is to allow audiences to experience the film as originally envisioned while respecting the rights and interests of the artists and companies responsible for the music.

We understand that Content ID recognition or monetization does not itself constitute a synchronization license, master-use license, or other authorization to incorporate copyrighted material into a motion picture.

We further understand that the availability of the film remains subject to applicable copyright law, platform policies, and the decisions of individual rights holders.

As of the film’s initial YouTube release, copyrighted musical works identified through YouTube’s Content ID system have been subject to rights-holder claims, including monetization and certain geographic viewing restrictions. These claims have not resulted in copyright strikes against the filmmakers’ YouTube channel. RIPENT, LLC does not monetize the film and respects the applicable rights-management policies established by copyright holders. These platform determinations do not constitute independent copyright clearance or authorization.

6. Good-Faith Communication & Copyright Concerns

This production was undertaken with sincere appreciation for the creative community and without an intention to misrepresent ownership of third-party intellectual property.

We welcome good-faith communication from legitimate copyright owners or their authorized representatives regarding the inclusion of their works.

If a rights holder has concerns about specific material featured in the film, we respectfully invite them to contact the production directly so that the matter may be reviewed and potential resolutions discussed.

Where appropriate, such resolutions may include additional attribution, clarification of existing permissions, licensing discussions, modification, or removal of the material in question.

We recognize that this invitation does not limit any rights or remedies available to copyright holders under applicable law.

7. A Final Word of Appreciation

Above all, To Everything After is a love letter to a generation.

The music of the 1990s was more than entertainment. It accompanied our friendships, our heartbreaks, our first loves, and the experiences that helped shape who we would become.

Those songs belong to the talented individuals who created them, but the memories they inspired are shared by millions.

Our hope is that this film honors those contributions, introduces new audiences to the music and culture of the era, and reminds viewers of the extraordinary power that art has to connect us across generations.

8. Trademarks, Trade Dress & Brand Representations

To Everything After incorporates visual references to recognizable businesses, products, establishments, and commercial imagery associated with the late 1990s. These elements are included to authentically recreate the cultural environment of the era and contribute to the film’s historical atmosphere, narrative setting, and nostalgic character.

Certain establishments, signage, color schemes, architectural elements, and other visual representations featured in the film may resemble the trademarks, trade dress, or commercial identities of existing or formerly operating businesses.

Where applicable, these representations have been fictionalized, creatively reinterpreted, or adapted for purposes of artistic expression, period authenticity, homage, and, in certain instances, parody.

Certain fictional businesses and establishments depicted in the film incorporate original names, dialogue, and creative elements inspired by the cultural experiences of the era. These representations are intended to evoke the memories, customs, and atmosphere associated with familiar businesses while serving independent narrative and artistic purposes. They are not presented as official reproductions of, or as being affiliated with, the commercial establishments that may have inspired them.

The filmmakers’ intention is to celebrate the cultural significance and collective memories associated with these recognizable establishments, not to misrepresent any commercial relationship with their respective owners.

Any resemblance to actual brands, including similarities in visual presentation or trade dress, is intended to support the film’s storytelling, historical context, and nostalgic tribute to the era.

All third-party trademarks, service marks, trade names, logos, and protected trade dress remain the property of their respective owners.

The inclusion or depiction of any recognizable or similarly represented brand does not imply sponsorship, affiliation, participation, authorization, or endorsement of the film by the respective trademark owner.

RIPENT, LLC does not claim ownership of third-party trademarks or protected trade dress and does not intend to market any fictionalized establishment depicted in the film as an official product, location, or service of an existing brand.

The filmmakers recognize that artistic expression, parody, homage, and historical references do not automatically exempt a particular use from applicable trademark or unfair competition laws. Each use must be considered in its specific context.

These representations are presented in good faith as part of an independently produced narrative motion picture intended to honor the culture, businesses, and shared experiences of a memorable era.

With sincere gratitude to the artists, songwriters, producers, musicians, and creative professionals whose work helped define an unforgettable era.
